An Introduction to Traditional Bowl Turning on a Treadle Lathe....
Treadle lathes have been traditionally used to produce bowls for centuries and certainly has a very strong historical connection to our location near Newbury, Berkshire. This course is aimed at those with little or no experience in traditional turning however some turning experience from previous courses would be beneficial. The course would take you through the various stages of turning a log into a bowl ready to take home at the end of the day. This will cover timber selection, correct and safe use of hand tools and the turning of your own bowl using a treadle lathe. Please note that this course is reasonably physical in nature and requires balance and co-ordination.
